Using cross-curricular projects in the math classroom!

Raise your hand if you’ve ever had a student say, “but when am I ever going to use this?” in the math classroom?

Yup, we’ve all been there. And personally, I don’t see that comment as an insult, but an opportunity.

Hear me out.

Students are generally more engaged when they can see what they are doing in the classroom connected to their own lives. Bonus points if you can do this and incorporate a hands on activity.

I absolutely ADORE cross-curricular math questions and projects because they genuinely help students to engage in their learning and make connections with what they are learning and the world beyond the classroom walls.

And as an educator, what teacher doesn’t love a project that give them not just one but two and sometimes three different marks?!
