It was a Saturday morning in mid December 2020. I was just prepping for a tutoring session (virtual of course), when I got the nerve to do it.
I opened my @teacherspayteachers store.
Over the years, colleagues and friends had suggested I open my own shop, but I was filled with excuses like: “No one will buy my things,” “So many others are much more creative than me,” or “I just don’t have the time.”
Well it was c*vid so I suddenly had a lot more time 😂, and at this time in December, I was feeling quite down - I’d postponed my wedding twice by this point. I needed something fun to do.
My husband and I chatted about my starting a TPT store. He was, and continues to be, a huge supporter of me and my shop, and with his encouragement, I opened my seller account and posted my first Instagram post to @smartypantsstudies. See the very first post and my original logo below💜
Since then, I’m so proud of myself for taking this leap and for joining the world of entrepreneurship and #teachergram . I am always learning, about business and about teaching, through this platform, and ultimately I think running this shop has made me a better teacher too ☺️.
Thank you for following along and supporting @smartypantsstudies 💜 It means the world to me!
Ps. If you’re curious about what happened with my wedding, after numerous postponements, we finally tied the knot in April 2021! Fun fact: I had help with my hair but due to c*vid restrictions, I did my own makeup with the help of @fancyfaceinc tutorials. Not bad if I do say so myself! 👰🏻♀️
